r4 chips
show user profile  Robroy
Hi, does anyone know about the legality of r4 chips in the UK?

I know this is a slightly odd question, but I have been offered a job by a company who supplies these chips to companies/customers within the UK (amongst other products).

From what I understand, it is a similar situation to Limewire, in that using them for the right purposes is OK, but using them to chip consoles is not OK.

Just wondering if anyone here knows anything about this?

Rob

It's a bit of a grey area as far as I know. If Nintendo wanted to do something about it I'm sure they could. I think Sony won a court case to ban the sale of Mod chips on there platform over here. Also Nintendo have stopped large UK import game companies from selling Japanese / US software and hardware.

Saying that however, those type of carts have been around for a long time now and nothing seems to have happened.

Amazon stopped most of the sales of them recently. I think Nintendo put the squeeze on them. They are great cards. Mine locks up now and then.
