Quad copter
show user profile  Bobbyboy
Hey guys, very long time no post from me. I haven't been doing any 3d stuff for years, but a friend of mine is right into quad copters and looking at designing up a new frame and wanted some cad work done. After that I figured the only option was to take the cad drawing an do a full blown 3d render with them. First things first I had to draw up the parts.

Here is the first part I have finished, the brushless motor and 10" carbon fiber prop, all modeled in max and rendered in maxwell

As always, love to hear comments and critz :D

Cheers

awesome render but the nut feels too small. What is the shaft thickness? My quad has M6 size acorns and they feel much bigger and I'm also using 10" props.

Thanks for the comments all, I have a lot more modeling to go but have been having a bit of fun playing around with maxwell materials and renders. I got to admit, though it is slow, and maybe not as popular as it once was, I quite like it :)

Here is a quick render with the frame, not too sure about the scale of the wood but it is all very early days at this point. I still need to finish of modeling this thing =P

Cheers

Interesting, I'd never really looked into it before now but seeing your first render sparked my interest. I missed the boat then i guess? I thought it looks pretty sweet!

oh, I don't really know what is what these days, I know I haven't kept up with the industry for the last few years. DD used to do a lot with maxwell but then moved onto fryrender and then who knows what after that =P

I think a lot of people ended up looking to the gpu accelerated unbiased renderers for faster output

Yeah, i have been experimenting with Octane recently. It's good but i have a few niggles that have stopped me buying it. If Maxwell was in Octane's price bracket, I'd snap it up!

Just another couple of renders as I refine the design and work on the extra little bits that will finish it off :)

Hope you like it

Cheers :D
