Put Material To Scene in Max 2012
show user profile  TuPP3
I know that this is a common issue, but I didn't found any solution for the problem although I fond like 15 reports about this issue.
I've the newest 3ds Max 2012 Design, and it doesn't allow textures to be visible in viewport, which is a crucial feature. Put Material To Scene is often grayed, and when I press it when enabled, it has no effect.

Anyone found solution? I found one at Autodesk site, put it didn't work or I did it wrong somehow.
Thanks.

Using the slate material editor right? It's a bit... "not as you expect". You need to have the material loaded into the node view in order for the "assign material to selection" and "show map in viewport" buttons to be of any use.

I do quite like the slate editor but I'm often switching back to the compact mode just to perform simple tasks, like condensing the material slots and resetting/deleting materials... I've no idea how to do this in the slate view.

I'm actually having the problem with both, I forgot to mention that I definently use the compact only, slate doesn't make any sense to me.

EDIT: Actually I was able to get it visible with that "assign material to selection" mouse2 menu, which I didn't know to even it exists.
But I'd prefer compact and I don't know the work around for it.
