Problems with Move command
show user profile  Mike-Dude
I'm currently working on an architecture project for school, and I decided to import my Revit floorplan layouts and such to Max. Whenever I try to move, rotate, or transform a certain group of windows, other windows move, rotate, etc in the wrong direction. I'm thinking this is due to the fact that the windows being transformed improperly were copied/pasted by the other ones, and so their orientation axes are skewed in the wrong direction. This would explain why if I try to move one of the windows in, say, the X direction, the other moves in the y direction. The windows are mounted on walls that are perpendicular to each other.

Is there any way to, i guess, break the dependence of one component from another so that this doesn't happen?

Also, why am I unable to group multiple components imported from the revit file? I'd like to group them according to floor to make modifications easier. Is there perhaps another tool I should be using besides group?

Any help would be appreciated! :)

sounds like you have the rollout set to local and not view on the top toolbar, change it to view and you should be ok

It was set on view the whole time.

I'm also having a problem altering some of the wall components. Even though I'm only selecting the vertices of one mullion, it is mirroring the effect on other mullions.

Edit: I figured out the problem for the mullions. The "Make Unique" option under the modifiers wasn't on.
