Problem with character

I have been creating a character in 3ds max and i have the head and the body which was made out of boxes and the head which was made out of planes. For some stupid reason i've created the left hand side of the body and the right hand side of the head so i cant simply weld the head to the body and then mirror. If i mirror each object i cant select the verteces to weld them.

Anyone got any ideas?

Symmetry modifier on both..collapse the stack. Attach body to the head..weld together.

Why can't you select vertices after you mirror?
Don't use the mirror modifier with copy options. Symmetry is better for this.

Mirror the head with the mirror tool in the top toolbar, not the modifier, and without the copy option
Then attach it to the body to become one object
And finally apply a symmetry modifier

EDIT: ah, I was too slow, but that method up there is rubbish
