problem with moving faces/vertexes/edges
I was just modeling some stuff in max and everything was going fine, now when i try to move a face in polygon mode it only goes on the z axis and kinda rotates around, it does this no mater what axis i use, it always just moves on the z axis.. cant do any work like this :( thanks in advance.

you might have an constraint on- in the right-hand sub-level rollout- i've not got max open at the moment or i would be more specific
look for it- it's a drop down and set it to 'none' i should think

yup yup, using max 2008, it has normal edge and face.

Hmm, thats soinds good, so in Normal mode, if you selected a group of faces on say the side of a cylinder, and moves them would they move like the push modifier i.e. all out towards their own normal? thats pretty usefull if thats what it does
