problem with edge of geometry
show user profile  kirillis
hi,

I have a problem getting this logo to look good in my rendering:

I can´t find a way to make the marked edges look right when I bevel the frontfacing face of the letters. the other edges work.. I´m sure I´m doing it completly wrong but i´m willing to learn if somebody could point me in the right direction!

get in there and do some manual clean-up!

yes, i tried that but how can I make good faces that are not screwed up without using "make planar"option? because using "make planar" moves the vertices too much around and the shape doesn´t look like it should anymore..

I tried moving the verts individually but I have no idea where the "right" position for them is.

is the close up image the exact same as the one above it, without any modification?

yes.. i already treid to add and move the vertices/faces so that it looks smooth in the render..

ok, I think i got it.. i used first a box and than a turbosmooth over that. and than I moved the box verts so that I got the letter.. isn´t there a faster way? like I first did with the spline? I drew a spline and used that to extrude the letter form. only thing that didn´t work was the chamver later on.

that works too O.o üretty nice, except that it produces a lot of faces that I don´t really need.. anyway, it´s fast so I will try and see how fast I can render this and compare to manual way of doing it.. thanks :D
