show user profile  amitgedia
it seems that fileserve and filesonic sites have stopped their sharing and downloading of files from their servers.... one can download and upload the files that belongs to them....
its sad ... no idea whether its a server issue or its going to be forever.... coz premium members who have bought the membership will be able to do nothing.... thats very sad....

The files are gone. If you follow the news, the US is currently forcing many file sharing sites to close. People who have paid money for storage of legal files are out of luck.

America is of the opinion that it can control the rest of the world.

but this is not done
people are still posting new links of these sites and no one is able to download it
i think torrents will take control now for some days if at all these filesharing links are up and running

Torrents and newsgroups will be stopped, at least in western countries.

if it's your shit, do what you like with it. if it's other people's shit (distributed without permission) & you're not paying them, you've got a feking cheek complaining about it.

megaupload took the piss, so do others.

while I'm in rant mode. amitgedia - it's nice to say thank you when someone helps you.

re-your hardware thread.

I am not advocating file-sharing or file-sharing sites.

I am concerned about my Dropbox account though.

from what I read they have a different business model (not based on piracy) so you should be fine.

tech is always one step ahead of the law, then every so often they catch up in an area where there's an obvious infringement. would expect that cycle to continue. obviously there's a very large grey area. youtube for example, has a not too different business model - upload what you like, they profit (via advertising) & will take down anything infringing at the request of the copyright holder.

the business model of google itself is based on exploiting the ip of others, though by linking rather than illegal distribution.

cloud is just a buzzword. it means using internet servers to do stuff. internet servers have been around for as long as there's been an internet. the cloud is just a dumbed down web friendly interface to all that.

Well, to be fair, 99% of Megaupload was pirated stuff. I won't mourn it's loss.

There are other ways to share legal files with other people.
