Portfolio Rebuild
show user profile  jbrophy
Hi everyone

I am slowly going to go through all my Blizzard/Personal art and set up a portfolio. Been 8+ years, I should archive all of this. Anyway my current site structure is hosed, data base issues, so I thought I would host it on ArtStation and start anew. If you could click the Jesse Brophy link below and let me know if it takes you to the art station site that would be great. Actually, just reply if it does not for some reason. I also currently only have 1 image up. How do you feel about the banner at the bottom of the image. Read well? Too distracting from the model? Art sucks? For work stuff I need to also give other artist credit so will need space for that. Let me have it. Once this is vetted, I have a few, things to post.

Thanks for your time

Goes to art station
Banner is suuuuuper dull. So like +10 points for not being distracting, but -9999 points for the dullness.

Thanks, I will make a top banner. Good call

How do you feel about the info at the bottom of the image?

Goes to artstation but everything is dull as a motherfucker.
Weird artwork. Dull black blackground. Boring layout.

Wtf.. You are a huge fucking pro in cg but all this look like a 15 year old zbrush fanboy shite.

p.s. Disclaimer: I am no pro in cg nor site bulding. Just expressing a true opinion. Nooffence.

Haha. No offense at all. I thought I was clear in my initial ask but clearly not. I was looking for feedback on if the link worked, I am doing a redirect from my old site and am not super versed in the html world, and how the info at the bottom of the images worked with the renders. Example I am worried on certain resolutions the text is unreadable. The overall site look will come once I complete everything else. Thanks for the feedback.

The link works fine, as stated.

I think the text at the bottom of the artwork is distracting and largely irrelevant. Iit looks odd to see it cropped in the thumbnails. You are a high calibre artist and when you have uploaded a collection of your work it will speak for itself. For this reason you don't need anything other than a contact email address on the actual .jpg images (largely for copyright purposes) in my opinion.

Just my 2 cents/pence/krona, whatever.

Seconded - no :)

Personally, my advice would be, look at some contemporary minimalist portfolio sites and do something like that. You're a great artist, why hide in a cupboard man..

Too late, did it anyway. Updated with about 8 images. I have about 40 I need to process from Wings. Then on to swarm, void and heroes.

@ Bolteon Thanks, that carbonmade stuff is very good. That's exactly the type of portfolio I wanted for myself. Also that link doesn't look bad at all: https://silard.carbonmade.com/

Edit: @jbrophy I thought about ArtStation as well, but I found that big cover photo stuff is just in the way. Also, all portfolios end up looking pretty much all the same, despite the actual content.

Congrats, you found my signature.

I appreciate the info everyone. The thing I like about artstartion is there is no hassle for me, and it has social media plugs and the possibility for traffic hits I would not normally have on my own site. I really want to make art, not manage a site.

"I would not normally have on my own site. I really want to make art, not manage a site."

That's specifically why (plus all the pre-integrated stuff like visitor tracking) I suggested CarbonMade.
