Pool waterfall

I am trying to create a render of a pool for my neighbor. He just stared construction and wanted to know if I could throw something together so he could see what it might look like. The image below is a WIP that I whipped up pretty quickly. My biggest issue is not having any idea where to start to create water coming off of the waterfall in the back corner. (I still need to add a few more rocks first though). Second biggest issue is the lighting on the big rocks around the perimeter, it just seems too light. (Using Mental Ray for this)
Also, what is a good place to get plants for this?

super spray particle generator, meta particles (blobmesh) and udeflectors for the fountain

the rocks in the wall could really use some depth to them, would look much better with the current diffuse in displacement instead

also the ground needs work, are those supposed to be rocks? displacement!

and the white thing, cant really tell what material its supposed to be, anyway it needs a bit roughing up

I agree that the ground needs a displacement or at the very least a bump map.
Particles and blobmesh I have not touched in almost 10 years, so I guess I better get back to learning them.

Great tips, Thanks for the advice, I will see what I can come up with.

For plants, google "3ds max free plant library" and fill your boots.

Are those AEC plants in the picture ?

No AEC this time, just 2 different "billboards" that were not cut out very well.

Probably better to use the built in AEC's

Download demo's of X-Frog, Forest Pro , Natfx etc they all come with freebies.
I don't think OnyxGARDEN has a demo, it has the biggest library but the most godawful UI you will ever find, depends if you want to shell out for a plugin.

You said that without: "in a 3D browser webpage, created by Advance-Software, possibly called Infinity." Losing your touch mate!

@Owtdor, plenty of free tree scripts at scriptspot (there was a particular one that was the dogs bollocks, but it's name has escaped me). But for a render for a friend I'd just use a photo of a tree/bush with an alpha mask.

how are you finding the rest of blender ? ready for prime time or just fire it up for the odd sfx like that ?

I have never touched Blender so I doubt I will use that method, although your image looks freakin' amazeballs.

Things I love of blender:
Modeling
particle fx
liquid
sub sculpting - there even is a nice goZ script
Animation tools
3d camera tracking for video - So f@#king awesome it's insane
Unity/SDk/colida augmentation/ exporting is easier than max and maya

Using modiphiers is just like max

Things i hate:
Rendering - I'm waiting for the vray plugin
Texturing - UV is a real pain in the ass
Rigging - I heard of a real improvement on the last build but haven't tried it yet
file saving - that's just being knit picky but a simple adjustment would be great

I can't afford licensing for more max on everything so when I freelance in some places I have to be on site. My work flow is stranger than most I will use blender on my laptop - export for either max or messia. If I need max I will upload the files to my machine, remote render it and pull the sequence back.

do you have to texture map in a third party app or is it bearable ?

guess they'll refine that at some stage, especially if it's highlighted as a key weakness to the dev team.
