Polygon hair - how do you do?

I'm modeling a female character in 3ds max and I never did the hair on a 3d character. I have some ideas on how to do it but I don't want to do and after to find that it is wrong.

the hair - I want to model a mesh (or multiple meshes) that I will texture and then to make it blow at the wind.

What modifier will make my mesh blow at the wind? And also, to make the hair be affected by the gravity? If it is affected by the gravity, will the mesh mould on the scalp's shape, or is any possibility to affect only a part of the hair mesh?
How can I attach the hair to the character: not to fall down from the head, or it will get attached by rigging? And do you have any modeling techniques in max that will help modeling the hair easier? I saw a modifier called "bend".

How do you do with the hair?
Some examples or tutorial that ask these the questions?

I need this for my final thesis on interior design. I want to add some characters to my design:)

3Ds Max - hair and fur modifier.


zbrush - fibermesh your hair. Import to max and use "Wayne's poly's to spline" script, then hair and fur modifier the splines for gravity and physics and stuff.

P.S. Seems strange to be asked to make a human for interior design course. Going for extra credit? I wouldn't try making one for your final thesis, I'd grab some photos and comp them or use poser and import some.
