Polycount
show user profile  Jock
I know if you hit '7' you can get a polycount but it seems to be for the whole scene no matter if you hide certain objects, so is there a way to get a polycount for a specific object in a scene?

Right click the name of the viewport (perspective, top ... whatever you're in)
Go to customize, and go to statistics tab

Select total+selection on the right
This would be the chance to turn the triangles on too, since they are what counts most of the times, and always when we're talking about polycounts and poly limits.

Now select an objects or a bunch of them and there you are

Great, thanks guys.

I had a feeling it would be easy enough.

No wonder i was having so much bother.

The client told me I could get a model of a specific chair from the manufacturer. Polycount was 2 million for a simple chair. It'll be much easier to model it myself.

Have had that in the past for interior viz too. I put chairs from Connection's website (manufacturer) into a scene and Max just fell over. Turned out every screwthread was modelled to the finest detail. It was easier to remodel a low poly version than to optimize the mesh.

Great models but not fit for purpose. God knows what they were charged for them. I found that there were loads of modifiers still in the stack, so they could have used half the memory resources if collapsed. Oh well.
