Play My Game Demo Online - "Battle Treads"

Hi Everyone,

It's been a long time since I've posted anything. I run the 3D department at the studio I work at which doesn't leave me much time for personal work when the day is over.

I finally got some time to work with some friends on building our own game. The only catch is that it's for a contest and we have a very short deadline (Tomorrow night).

I'll post some screenshots when I get a chance, but for now, try out the demo yourself!


Battle Treads: Tankin Ain't Easy

Requires Unity 3D to play



*Please be patient with the loading. We're currently working out some bugs with the pre-loader*


-W,A,S,D to move
-Mouse to aim
-Left-click to shoot
-Roll up to crates, spawn pads, and radar towers to capture them
-Number keys cycle through weapons
-Enemy Radar Towers will scramble your radar, player-owned radar towers will extend your radar range

I've only been working on this for a couple hours a night for the last week or so, but I'm pretty happy with the results so far. The texturing obviously has a long way to go, but at the size you see it in game, you don't need as much detail.

Bleh.. Unity is blocked here at work.. (F.. you CSIS)

Will have to give it a go when I get home. those models look pretty awesome.

Its looking really cool and plays well.

It felt like there is some scaling issues between the tanks and the terrain.
It makes the tank look toy-ish.

EDIT: The onscreen radar seems to go all crazy at points and all the markers is jittering all over the screen.

There is a delay between pressing the wasd keys and the tank actually moving. There is no delay with the firing, so I guess it's deliberate, but it's annoying.

And after they killed me 3 times they managed to build 2 turrets and put 2 tanks arond my spawn pad so they can spawn-rape me every time I respawn. That's not nice of them

Heh it's pretty cool . Only thing to that unity is always stop working on my computer :( . But I played it thought and its cool . Ommm , but when my tank was overturned I'm just stuck .... So fix it somehow . Turn me back , or explode me :D .

I agree about the scale thing. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I definitely get the toy-ish feeling you're talking about.

Balancing is something we haven't really done any work on yet. The AI is very good at killing the player. We're looking into different ways to prevent spawn-raping.

Being able to flip the tank upright again will be essential for stunt mode. That's something we're need to address before the deadline.

I'd love to hear more feedback on this. I'm hoping to start up a development blog in the next week or so.
