Not big at all - studio set, lights and some props incl. glass and water. Do you have Phoenix installed? LMK if you want to bench it.

Thanks!

BTW - what CPU did you go with? I believe the i7 are better than a Xeon but I can't prove it (yet).

just found that. no idea if accurate or a good benchmark.

xeons can be configured multiple chips on a board. i7s can't so xeons win at the high end.

intel configures like that on purpose. it's their business model.

this is fairly interesting too.

config per node :

dual xeon octacore E5-2670 @2.6Ghz (32 threads)
gtx690 / 32gb ram

as comparison with my current workstation the new nodes render about 1,5x faster
(dual sixcore xeon X5680@ 3.33ghz / dual quadrofx3800 / 64GB ram (24 threads)

and compared to an i7 3930 @3.2 Ghz (12 threads) the new nodes render about 4x faster

So I wouldnt declare i7's being better then a Xeon...

I'll buy that - Great response & nice work! I dig the pricing comparison too. For me, it's all about the best bang for the buck. However, there are days when you just require brute force power RFN!

Having the scalable access to many cores on demand appeals to me. I'll let you know my findings...
