Its been kind of a ghost town around here and i've been doing a lot of drawing lately so thought i would start a WIP / finished work thread. Some of these are from last year, but i thought i would still share.

Nice. Just a couple of small crits on the finished living room if I may:

A bit heavy on the Ambient occlusion for my taste.
Wood grain on the pillars would look more authentic running vertically.
Ceiling texture bump looks a bit heavy.
Some smoothing-group shadow weirdness on the the back corner ceiling?

I had seen some of the little issues,, but these were for a builder i was doing some work for and he didn't want to pay for anything more then the minimum. So i actually did more then what i charged him for because i couldn't send them out as unfinished as he wanted to pay for. In the end, i had the threaten to sue him to pay for almost all of the jobs i did for him anyways.

The top image is one that i am doing for myself to work on getting something as realistic as possible. Its my actual living room and I've modeled everything including the outlets and light switches. I am going so far with it that for the floor, i am going to take pics of my hardwood floor and stitch it together to make the texture. I have tried to find something that will work, but my floor has so much character and color variations, that i think i won't be happy unless i make to match.

Most of these were done for a builder that i meet through my brother-in-law. He was building my brother-in-laws house and did a horrible job. there are lots of problems with the house and the builder isn't taking responsibility for the problems or working to get them fixed. leaking basement, a bunch of popped drywall seams and corners, gas leaks and water leaks. a lot of the problems began before the final walk through and when he refused to fix anything, my brother-in-law refused to make the final payment on the build until everything was finished.

When everything went south with the build, he stopped send me jobs and refused to respond to me. He finally responded to me when i threatened to sue him and said that he was getting rendering done for $10 an hour and didn't want to work with me any more. Ok, then pay me for the finished work. 6 more months of threatening to sue him didn't do anything. i finally blocked my number and called him and he answered. we had a discussion about everything and he admitted to the issues with the build being the reason he wont respond to me and wont pay me. I basically told him, what does the build have to do with the work i did for you. he agreed and within a week, i had a check in the mail.

I think the builder was more into remodels or additions and my brothers custom 6000 square foot home was to much for him. It has a custom basement with a 30 yard archery range and i don't really think he was capable of doing the build. i do know that during a meeting with him, his wife and his partner, he told me the only reason he was able to sign a couple of the jobs was because the renders that i provided. without them, he felt he had no chance of getting the job. Oh well, im working with a new builder now so that's all in the past.
