Phil's Pile of.... Stuff
show user profile  npcph
So i haven't really done any maxing lately, i figured it was about time. I have several ideas and have had several starts. here is one that was inspired by herfst1's steampunk bike.

As i was watching his progress, it got me thinking about how i would have done things. So mine is going to be a trike. i'm starting on the rear drive train now and think i'm going to make it really detailed like a clock movement. Lots of gears and moving things.

my other project is creating website. I have never done one, other then making small adjustments to my current site.

Here is the mockup of what i am going for. Basically i will have buttons on the left, a header and footer that will stay static. on the right, i will have these 3 pictures frames that will rotate through a group of images. the site is going to be mostly informative, with the only thing that will need to be data entered is the employment section which i have already done before so i know how to code it.

any thoughts on the design or layout?

any thoughts on how to do the rotating images on the right?

Hey, that's cool you're doing this, can show me how it should have been done. That's already an insane amount of thought and detail put into those wheels.

255 green = a BIG no no. Hurts peoples eyes, makes everything else difficult to read. Try to tone back the green a bit, or find a nice neutral color for the green areas and use a toned back version of the green as an accent color.

it works well on the frozen oasis logo in the top left though.

red strapline is said logo doesn't stand out clearly enough.

No, absolutely zero offence. I'm not a mechanic or engineer, nor expert in anything Steampunk. This will be a seriously cool project to follow.

BTW that's a really cool idea for the front suspension.

Thanks. I was trying to integrate the gears and steam power as much as possible. that's how i came up with the idea for the front suspension and brakes. Thats also why i'm doing a trike. then i can integrate a whole gear system into the stearing parts.

The website hurts my eyes, bright pink + green makes me feel like I've time-warped to a UV club night in 1st year at uni and my stomach winces at the idea.

The bike on the other hand... is seriously cool business definitely keeping an eye on this one :)

well, it was birthday time again. This year my one son wanted a football party. So I had to throw together an acceptable football field.

the field after i got done with laying out the lines.

I had to put a logo in the middle

Even though i couldn't make it regulation, i still had to number the lines. it was 20 yards total so i did it in 10 foot between lines with a 2.5 foot en zones.

Since I do most of this on salvage materials, the bleachers are made from an old set of steps

time to warm up

Time to play

always time for cake. we did this during half time

Making the goal posts. They were pvc plumbing drain pipes.

I never did post pics from my other son's party. I'll throw something up later today.

WE played until 8 pm and the only reason we stopped was the mosquitos were so bad, we were getting eatin alive. We bought shirts and dyed them blue and yellow for the two teams. I then got iron on letters to put everyone's names on the shirts. but they wouldn't stick to the shirts. Peeled off as soon as we got done ironing them. so they just got colored shirts and we wrote on them with black sharpy markers. All the kids had a good time so it was a good party.

I can't find the camera with the pictures from my other son's party so here are some pictures that i took last week. It has been up for over 3 months. He wanted a golf party so i made him a putt putt course. All the sides were made from scrap 2x4 and strips of old wood paneling. It is falling apart now, but was a lot of fun for the kids. It fell down in this picture, but we even had a windmill to putt through.

You're a pretty cool dad. Just hope they don't ask for a roller-coaster-theme-park birthday.

Anyway... where's that steampunk trike?
