Making parts of objects invisible or non renderable.
show user profile  Cylon
Just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to select certain polygons or elements of an object and exclude them from the rendering.

I know how to select an entire object and make it invisible, by going into properties and making it invisible or non renderable, but I can't seem to select parts of my objects (selected elements or selected polys) and apply it to those.

Anyone know ?

I was trying it last night in multi sub object mode but it didn't work.

Why didn't the multi-sub object material work? Two materials ( Opacity 100, Opacity 0) and then just distribute them onto the object... (I'm not max wiz, but that's what I would do, the only thing is that those parts of the object that you can't see will still need to be rendered and slow down the process).

Didn't think of that, I'll try it out tonight.
