particles following an animated slice
show user profile  Spear Chuck
I've got an animated slice of a menu with text that appears gradually from left to right. There's another one that follows in which I copied the slice from the first one's modifier stack and pasted it into second one's modifier stack. It's getting complicated.

I'd like to copy the animated Slice from the menu and past it into a particle system modifier stack that would cause it to follow the slice as if the particles are welding sparks moving down the line. Is there some modifier I could add to the particles that would allow me to then past the slice in so the settings match the menu slice?

In other words, how can I attach a particle system to an animated slice?

I'll post the animation in a few...

Wire the coordinates to the slice's center?

Is there a way to save the draft animation to mp4 from the RAM Player?

Yes, but you need to have an mp4 codec installed on your PC.

Here is a good free codec pack. Grab the Basic version.

I actually have the K-light codec. I was hoping to get Max to render to mp4 directly from either the RAM player or from production render.

What I usually do is render to a sequence of png stills, import them into Premiere and then to mp4. After that I use Adobe Edge Animate to put the mp4 into a HTML5 player for universal viewing.

K-Lite doesn't install the mp4 codec so Max is able to save to rendered file, does it?

I'd like to attach a sparkler to the slice.
