Particle flow help please...
show user profile  xandos
Hi guys, I'm having some frustration with getting the particles in my system behaving how I would like them to. Basically, the end result that I want is that a bunch of particles stay close to a point, which moves. So the particles would cluster around and move to this point, but still move around a bit. The way that I have been trying to achieve this is to have them affected by an animated spherical gravity warp. I add the force to them, add a keep apart and a keep together (to themselves) to make them all move around a bit. What is happening, is that the particles are accelerating towards the gravity warp, overshooting, flying far out, slowing down, where they then fire themselves back at the gravity warp - instead of just clustering around it like I want.

I guess it makes sense physically, but how can I then get the particles to behave how I need?

Thanks for reading.

Custom position object (which is animated), no particle speed, then use a wind with Strength set to 0 (not force!)..but tweak the turbulence and such.
Dont forget to have birth emission start and stop on same frame so particles are 'there', and not continiously generating.

Something along those lines will get you there,

you could do it with a find target operator and animate the target
