Overclocking question
show user profile  CAD Monkey
Hi Guys,

I've taken delivery of my new scan overclocked machine and I was wondering - do I have to switch overclocking on and off when I want to use it and when I don't?

I'm only asking as this machine is an i5 overclocked to 4.5gHz and 8GB 1600Mhz RAM, but I am doing some test renders on stuff I have done at work and the renders seem to be taking at least as long as the 3 y/o machine at work which is an old intel with 2GB RAM and a clock speed of around 3Mhz. So before I go back to Scan and sound like an idiot, I thought I'd sound like an idiot here!!

Hope someone can help.

Cheers,

Stewart

Find out how to get into the bios menu for your pc/motherboard, and look to see if you can find saved profiles. Some motherboards allow saving of various bios profiles and it may be that Scan have a custom overclocked one in there, which may or may not be active..

There`s a ton of other advice to follow that..

Cheers fella,

Scan have just been really helpful:

They have emailed me instructions to check the overclocked profiles in the bios - I'm going to check it tonight to make sure which profile is being used.

Thanks again matey.
