Opinions on best type of web design for Architectural modeling firm?
show user profile  Loganam
My friend and I are trying to get a physical model/ 3d rendering & animation firm up and going. I am wondering what type of web design would work best.

Here are a couple web designs I like as far as a direction I'm most likely to go in.

I'm guessing both of these sites are using flash. Based on the overall consensus of this thread will determine which types of web design I study. I am going to subscribe to I just got laid off about a month ago, and have a ton of free time to sit and learn this stuff.

Also a couple business card designs I've done. Image of building is still a logo concept in the works.

Both of these sites involve heavy actionscript.. I hope you're equipped with a ton of patience if you're not flash savvy and are trying to pull something like that off.
You may be better off with doing a clean html based site with some php or database capabilities.
The simpler and cleaner the better. And you don't really need flash to convey your message. Plus if it's not used right it may become confusing.

Your bussiness cards look interesting however need work. Black text on dark background is hard to read and so is the bright green on white. Maybe you should go with all yellow on black and/or all black on white.. Keep on working ;)

del3d - Thanks for the feedback, I'll try those ideas.

killerbee2 - Um...ok, I don't mind your honesty, but I should say this is just an incomplete idea (a placeholder) the whole logo will eventually be whatever acronym we end up (name isn't final either) with incorporated into a 3d model of a building kind of as described. Do you just think we should come up with a completely different idea? I know you are an awesome designer and all (I like your stuff a lot) but you don't need to be an ass about your feedback. Maybe elaborate on why it "sucks" as a basic idea.

Also here is a very, very, very "conceptual" idea as far as maybe an introduction to the website. Please read the description next to the video to understand the overall concept of the idea. Thanks.

Acronym 'logos' don't look great, in general.

Edit: Except MTV, of course ... that works ... err ... then there's BBC ... and CNN ... they're ok ...
... hmmmm ... I'll get my coat.

Your type of business would benefit from a first person 3D website.

You might like to experiment with this as a side project ...

Potential customers could then experience your work, rather than just look at pictures.

i quite like the logo, maybe a little too busy, but a good idea... your cards dont show it off very well...have to squint to see it.
