Odd 'forward' shadows in nVidia MR render...

Cracked open an old model I made for an indy project years ago...rendered it in nVidia mental ray and get these odd shadows that are out in the light on the ground plane. Anyone know what fixes it?

Define "odd".
Do you mean noisy ?
If so then just make the shadow quality higher.

The shadows shouldn't be there in real life. I'd like to find out why shadows are being cast 'forward' into an area of light. It's just incorrect.

That gray haze is what I refer to. It doesn't happen in scanline, only with the GI turned on with MR.

Looks like the hdri is shadow casting maybe. I'd not worry about them, they just look more like heavey ao than cast shadows.

Just looks like good old fashioned AO to me. Very standard stuff. Not sure what you're asking.

Can't you just exclude the plane shadows from whatever is casting the light ?

How many lights are in the scene, what type are they ?

Thanks for the ideas. I know it's the AO bounce, but I'm really hoping there's some way to get rid of it. I'll try the suggestion for excluding the ground plane, or something. It's simply incorrect for shadows to bounce forward, even if it's AO, so I have to find some way to remove this.

It's a plain white floor, get some texture on it and stop obsessing, render to passes and erase what you don't like.

...and lay off the drugs.

Just looking for correct lighting from mental ray, nothing more. And I see zero places in my posts that give the appearance I was taking drugs. When I plainly show oddities and people don't see them, that's on them, not me.

Tighten up your AO distance perhaps. It looks like AO noise to me.
