i made a really simple octopus (sphere with tentacles eyes and mouth) in zbrush and imported into max, where are there some good tutorials on how to use the skeleton creation tool? i have yet to find out how to get more than 2 bones coming off one center one, and need 9 bones in total (legs and head, may end up making each tentacle a spine type of bone) lastly, i just want to make it fall onto a raytraced white plane then scoot around.

skeleton creation tool? do you mean biped? or bones? there are tut on both of these all over the place and particularly *switches on prercorded message* in the tuts that come with max. I would take a look at the spline IK solver if i were you. that wouls be good for the tentacles

bones, biped wouldn't exactly work on a octopus. and i'll check the spine ik solver.

Biped would not be useful, but bones are what you need. Just use enough of them to get the curve control you need.
