I'm trying to make just a simple cylinder for my car i'm modeling and it's like it's invisible, can't see it, but when I move my mouse to make it, all the parameters are changing so it's there? any suggestions?

some of the primitive shapes require you to drag out and click twice before it draws the entire shape. For the cylinder you first click and drag out the radius of the cylinder, then you drag out the height (or depth) of the cylinder.

Your problem might be the view port you're in, or the view you have setup (wirefame, hidden line, smooth plus highlights). Maybe try shifting around viewports, and trying different display features (F3 and F4).

The usual cause of this is creating an object with a hidden layer selected.
