Buildings washed out, road too orange without much texture, buses perfect boxes, cars obviously copied, sky pitch black, tires going into the road, too much weird blur...

Need more?

Scale is off (cars are too big for building size) , there is no pavement/ sidewalk to speak of, there is no sky, repitition of cars (try changing some of there colors), oh and too damn bright.

If everyone around you is panicking and you are calm, perhaps you haven't fully grasped the situation

And the traffic light going out of a car doesn't help. ;)

It's kinda cool in a stylised sort of way.

I'd probably say my one biggest issue is that the cars and pavement (which looks wet) should be reflecting way more of the building lights given their intensity. There's almost none of this reflection whatsoever.

Definitely has a style to it. Reminds of Driver from quite a few years back..
The thing that kills it most is the repetitiveness of building textures and its consistency. Floor heights are equal which strengthen the perspective perception needlessly. There's a single vantage point, view is tilted.. already make it a very dynamic image.
First impression I got was actually.. shit, this is nothing like NYC. Look up google street view to get a better feeling. What is happening at street level is much different than floors above. Not all the blocks are full, you could delete some of the buildings for variation, heights must be varied as well. Some landscaping at building tops would help. Rooftop gardens or trees at recessed floors. Neons, logos. Damn, list it long. Road is perfect and it should be totally fucked up :) I stay away from driving to NYC to spare my low profile rims ;)
It's a sin to call this image a reference to this magnificent city ;)

So in other words, the image is too bright and washed out, busses look square, needs clouds, some tires ink in, too much glow blur, scaling of buildings is off, no pavement, road is too orange without texture, fix the traffic light, more reflectance on the roads of the buildings, and of course details details details and making everything look more random...

Now, if this image was moving really fast, like how they did it in Spiderman, and there would be motion blur on all the sides of the frame, how much would all these details matter?

all of the above. Plus,...the middle row of cars..slightly to the left of the centerline all look like they are scaled on the X axis.....too thin looking.

Even moving fast,.....the symmetry and such that makes this look wrong will still be very apparent.

So, I've done a lot of work on it. Still have a lot more to do like fix the lamp posts so that you could actually see them. I gotta fix the lighting, add bilboards, maybe make a sidewalk pavement, maybe some neon lights. The scene is supposed to take place in the 1930s or so. Maybe 50s maximum. So, I didn't get highly detailed cars because I would need a whole lot of dupilicates. This model is low polygonal, looks kinda old, and you can't really tell what it is exactly. The plus side to this scene is that it's a moving shot like in Spiderman as he zoomed through the city.
I rescaled all the buildings to match the size of the cars. I think I scaled down the buses a bit too small. I need to fix that. Considering that this scene is from the 30s or 40s or whatever, I don't think Neon would be appropriate and that the bilboards shouldn't be self illuminating.
Now, the good question I have here is, do I need to add a lot more details considering that the final end product will have as much motion blur as the image I uploaded.? Also, do you think I should make the lanes wider? I think I really like the lanes in the image I uploaded before.
Also, I fix the colors of the cars. Though they are only in 3 shadesl; yellow, white, and black because I don't think they have that many colored cars back then.
Any more critiscm on how much this looks like shit is GREATLY appreciated.

Here is the shot with motion blur.
NYC motion blur

And here is the shot without motion blur

The motion blur version looks a lot better
you still need to change a few of the buildings, add different signs and shop fronts, people
etc etc

going in the right direction, change more car colours as well, and add taxis

I fixed the lighting a little more. Still need to add more details.
This image is without the blur.
