Nurbs Ruled Surface? - Stumped!

Stumped!
Anybody know how to create a NURBS ruled surface once you have 2 splines generated and converted to NURBScurves?

screenshot? Sounds like your trying to find a surface tool like Maya, but in Max you use different methods so maybe we can look at what you're trying to accomplish?

Not a problem here is a screen shot of what i'm trying to achieve. max has some great surface tools but i'm trying to automate this process rather than creating something new. see screens below.

Can you just draw it with the line tool, use rectangular rendering, then convert to NURB if needed?

Unfortunately not! so that would be idea! Check out my previous post - this was just from a few day's ago. I'm actually using NURBS because of the complex spline rotation issues inherent to ...well... complex splines lol... this is an ongoing project so I'll have to figure it out one way or another.

So you want to use this shape to essentially boolean it on the arm? Also, you can convert to NURB after that spline shape but I guess it doesn't bend correctly for you? If you can't get the entire spline to boolean correctly, then maybe break it into 3 parts?

you are correct - I want to use the spline's to boolean the arm. I have a working process now that is manual and works just fine but i need to automate this process for a batch of arms.

what the image in the other posting does not show is that i have created my first spline and used a script to duplicate and offset the spline as needed. Now i have the 2 splines like you see above. my problem is don't know the MAXSCRIPT for creating a ruled surface from the 2 splines.

I have gotten as far as - > convertoNURBScurves #($line001, $line002) -- haha

after this i cant find the commands to create a ruled surface from the 2 splines i have.

It may be that your splines aren't parallel (have equal amount of verts along connecting edges) and/or have steep curvature so it would be mathematically impossible but I'm not completely certain.

You can automate the process even if you have 3 surfaces, it would just be 2 extra steps...
