Hi guys i just install max 2016, and a brand new Nivida gtx 1070, but im not sure if 3d max is utilising the 1920 cuda cores, anyone have any issues with the 1060 1070 or 1080 cards ?

That's a bit vague, what tests have you done ? ...are you talking about view-port performance or rendering ?

I just had the same experience with a GTX 970, I was underwhelmed too, Vray RT isn't bad but viewport performance is a turd, it's ok, but I expected it to be much better.

For GPU rendering grab the vray demo if you don't own it, and switch on statistics, give you a pretty good indication how hard you cards being stressed and what's being used.

nicolapedrali asked: Good morning, i'm using iRay with 3DSMax 2016; i just bought a new GeForce 1080 (my previous card was a 750ti) BUT.. seems that iRay can't uses it! The 1080 works fine with games and other stuff; iRay renderer panel shows the card as available and checked, but the rendering is slow, exactly like if i use only the CPU! Any idea? thanks

Unfortunately there is no support for Pascal GPUs in iray available yet.

But we are working hard on adding support (and optimizing for it)!

Until the Cuda core is updated in software, it won't use the full capacity of the new cards. It's the same for other Cuda-based software too.

Blender support is already available, and will be in the main branch very soon. Max, who knows.
