I'm a newbie to 3dsmax and don't know where to start. I'll love to start modelling and animating some great stuff like I see on T.V. How do I go about it?

Strat is right, the tutorials that come with Max will give you a great foothold on things.

Nik is right also. Do the tutorials, thats not taking away anything about strat being right as well.

no no, you're all wrong except Strat...

and of course Mr Grotey has some very nice tutorials http://www.maxforums.org/threads/life_sea_turtle_tutorial_mrgrotey/0001.aspx
That's a low poly tutorial, but might be a good start.

Nik is right about Hiostu being right about everything except that it was only strat who was right becuase not only was strat right, but as Markoid put it, they are all right... except A-S... he's a 3d lurker.

[EDIT] once your done with that, google 3d studio max tutorials. Millions of them. There is also the Maxforums tutorials on the left. Youtube has a bunch and so does Lynda.com
