new to 3d max need HELP Pls

iam new to max and need help with making \ creating tunnels and caves

what i need to do is create a movable terrain ( meaning i need to move though the tunnels and caves)

can anyone out there HELP me starting

Do you know anything at all about modelling?
Do you need just the inside of the caves, or do need the outside of the terrain as well?

I notice that you posted the same question a few hours after this one , which is unnecessary and makes you look impatient and demanding which will make you no friends around here.
Nevertheless here's a quick vid to get you started.

Where I am selecting edgeloops and making new ones in the vid, it is by shift/dragging

When you have your model done, if you want a rougher/rockier look, add a meshsmooth modifier with 2 iterations and then add a noise modifier with small scale, maybe 1% or so and crank up x y and z spinners to your requirements.

F1 on your keyboard is your friend when trying to learn Max.

Nice video markoid. The only other idea / thought i would have would be start the cylinder just like markoid did, then after you flatten out the bottom extrude the end along a spline. You can make the spline take what ever path you want. Then you can extrude polys from the side along slines to make more branches for the cave. this would allow you to make the cave a little faster without as much manual work. then you can just scale spots along the cave to make veriations

once you've got the base shape down, you could create rockface detail in sculptris. (export as obj)

You'll (celgo) need to apply a normal modifier to 'flip' your cave inside out - so that when you eventually come to moving around the interior, you will see it! Either that or a shell modifier.

Edit: I also love the fact your units were measured in feet and inches markoid :)

thx for the vid markiod. and yip posted the same add twice different wording the second time to give more of a better description. thanks for the advice on making friends.. liondebt i will give the terrain method a shot when i have the tunnels made up

just got two things to ask ( for now )

where or how do u find or make textures for the inside of the tunnel.

and i saw another way
(create / nurbs / cv curve / sweep / build in sec / pipe)
this way lets me create pipes with bends. can i go about using them for my tunnels.

and/or check out the free textures thread in the left menu on your screen and find a nice hi res rock texture.
Max nurbs I don't use so I can't help you with that.
An alternative way is to create a cylinder and flatten the floor as before and don't delete the end poly. Then draw a smooth line in the shape you want your curves (top viewport) starting from the end of your cylinder then select the end poly of the cylinder and use 'extrude along spline' button in the editable poly rollout, fiddle with segment number 'til happy.
