New texture
show user profile  Mark J
I'm new so bare with me. I'm trying to make a new texture but it's not taking.
The material editor looks great but when I apply it to the model it still looks smooth. I made a rock - like texture and "assigned the material to selection", and "show standard map in view port". Not working.
What button am I missing?!
Also , how do I get a jpeg attached to this question to show what I'm talking about?

You can't attach files, but if you post a url to the picture it'll show up. See the FAQ for size limits and stuff. As for the question, does it look okay when you render it? I think the viewport usually shows lower quality materials for memory saving purposes and whatnot, unless you take specific steps to improve it.

Edit:
A quick google search came up with this:http://roller.student.utwente.nl/tut/texturesize/
I didn't look at it too closely but the forum it came from made it sound like it was what you were looking for.

Your object needs a UVW map modifier.
[EDIT]... and when you apply that there must nothing selected at subobject level (verts, polygons etc) on your mesh.
