looking do download a quick free image browser or something that'll give me an instant contact sheet of my images on the screen, much like windows explorer already does, only larger thumbnails.

my first thought would be Irfanview, I seem to recall that in the settings you can set the size of the thumbnails -

strange, it does give me larger image thumbs, but it makes them super blurry. like it's limit is w.e. size and it's stretching them up to fit

Odd. In explorer, I can set my thumbnails to quite massive and they are not blurry at all.

Are you using Windows XP/95/3.11?

If you have Lightroom, it does a good job of massive thumbnails.

Does Photoshop still make contact sheets? It used to.

hmm, i might be misinterpreting your exact need but how close does google image new feature save button work? I seen you can collate all your images quickly with its little star button - have not used it.

I used to use CoolIris plugin, but again never exported from it to a contact sheet. I like the photoshop button that creates PDF - it can label each image for you as its filename pretty quickly skipping the contact sheet part - which is fairly slow still. More info please!

edit* I see they are local to you PC... I like the pdf creator in PS, I also see alot of 'mac' people love bridge, it can thumbnail as large as you like and stores its own .DB file so it rememebers them instantly when you come back - can be great if your server is not indexed (I see this everywhere I go unfortunately), so bridge can be a great tool for yourself to rename, locate, collate, compare images. I should probably use it lol

actually that's right, I totally forgot about Adobe Bridge. And I use it almost every day, haha!

That should get you very large thumbnails (with a quick 100% magnifying glass), as well as easy ways to rate or select photos. -

thanks guys

Nic - using win7. i can view 'extra large icons' but these are not big enough. dont know how to get larger. and havent got Lightroom.
Photoshop still makes contact sheets, but there's too many hoops to jump to to get there. i literally want a quick click and browse system.

Octo - perfect! thanks buddy!

Don/Error - thanks chaps, but as stated, a super quick non-button pressing solution is needed. a simple fast image browser, exactly like winexplorer, only bigger. its all instant. XnView does just that.

I switched to XnViewMP about 8 years ago after being eternally pissed off with ACDSee, never looked back.
Thumbnails are a pain in the ass tho', could be handled better, blurry from time to time and not really clear how to prevent it.
