need help with setting up a domain
show user profile  zenonithus
hey all,

I'm setting up a website for the first time. I've basically built it and now need to register my domain and find a host.

My question with registering a domain is that they say when you register a domain details like your name and postal address can be seen in a public database!?? Is that true? is the only way to prevent this is to pay £6 for WHOSIT to hide your details? any advice folks?

You can opt out of the information without extra payment!

I'm going through
at the moment. it gets to a point where its madetory to fill in my postal address etc.

do you mean there is usually an option to not make these details public? I still dont get why they have to make personal details public in the first place for just registering a domain.

Got 2 domains registered at
,whois doesn't seem to find anything like that info.

They don't HAVE TO, but if they decide they do unless you pay...well... go to some other place.
