NE1 mix particals with Fume FX? The result isn't good
show user profile  Spear Chuck
Check out this animation: http://www.spearchuck.com/circus.html

Compare it to this one where I put in particle emitters. http://www.spearchuck.com/circus2.html

The result looks pixilated, is there a remedy of some kind like a layer (talking out my yang) separating the flames from the particles?

not quite sure what you're trying to do but if you additive blend your particles & use sprites rather than individual pixels it should look better.

use a map something like this on each sprite (camera facing quad) :

I'm pretty confident that this can be done decent directly in flash.. might save you some trouble if you know how to work the software.

I know flash pretty well. What would you do in Flash?

Years ago (contracted with AOL making animated gif) I would animate in Max in a sequence of still jpg then import them in GIF Animator.

I've tried to import sequenced stills into Flash in batch but it wouldn't do it or I didn't do it right. They would all appear stacked on one key frame rather than each still on its own key frame.

Can Flash recognize sequenced stills, import them into the library or on stage, putting each on a key frame?

What I did with circus animation was to import the AVI Max did into AE and then exported it in SWF.
...
advance-software, that be over my head. How do I blend particles using sprites? I haven't used sprites since Director.

Do you mean instanced geometry? Like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPIZx-Twj7U

sorry dude. I know the theory but don't use max much.

don't use flash at all.

what are you trying to do this in, max or flash ?

or max --> flash ?

billboard sprites are a pain in max if I recall - need to make quads with a camera constraint or something.
we've gone over it before so there'll be someone around who knows how to do it.

I was able to import stills into Flash ok and plays like it should but it loads off center to the dimensions of the stage. When I select all key frames at once and attempt to move the images, only one moves.

How do I select 'all' 100 images, spanned over 100 key frames to move into the left top corner of the stage?

I got it! Hit F8 to make it a clip symbol, then place it on stage from the library as an object.
