my new iPhone game 180

What's up maxxers! Used to be a time I posted here every day - it has been awhile :)

I am here to mention that after my years in the console game industry, I've struck out on my own with a programmer friend. We just released our second iPhone game, as a 2-man crew - today (only) there's a special promotion and you can grab it FREE. Do us a favor and check it out, and pass on the word if you enjoy it. I hate spamming a forum (so don't do it! - ed.) but honestly, we are a tiny little dev and we are sitting on something very special - and we are actually cracking the charts for real!

The game is called 180, it's a mashup of games like Tetris and Bejeweled in many ways - but is very much it's own game. Simple enough for your grandma, but hardcore enough to make you cry, a lot.

YouTube hyper (hardcore play)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSN_Ajk9V4A

grab it and help the little guy out!
And yes, many of these assets were actually built and rendered in Max :)

Don't like match 3 games, but would like to ask you how hard it is to switch from MS environment to Apple in development
And how much money would you need for all that is required to start (can it be developed on win or linux? is SDK free? Any licenses? etc...)

@Horizon- Must be developed on an intel based mac :(, its $99 USD to develop for the app store.

Horizon - this is the puzzle game for people who don't like puzzle games. if you've got the hardware to play it on, check it outm you might be surprised :)

It was not cost-prohibitive at all to build the game, at least. You do need a mac however, well the programmer does! The artist/designer (me) just used a regular old PC and sent all the graphics/sound FX/etc over for him to plug in, which was the relatively easy part.

Dev-wise, we used a free community supported (and well-documented) engine called cocos2D, recentlly ported to the iPhone itself (and used for honestly HUNDREDS of iPhone apps at this point). It's not crazy fancy, but for this type of stuff it's well suited to the job and not particularly hindering (I don't think you'd wanna be trying to build a 3D game with it however.. hence the name!) Programmed in objective C I think.

I think a development license is only like $100 a year plus whatever cost you need to pay for your hardware and software.

On the other end of it, it's been a crazy adventure. We both worked in big companies before, so this was our first experience really doing the tiny 2-man crew stuff. it got quite hectic and stressful at times, but at least we got the project finished and released into people's hands - and though it looks "just like another puzzle game," I am happy with the aesthetic and the game is quite fun and reviewing wonderfully. With this current promotion we shot WAY up the App Store charts and I am doing all I can to try and get featured (that's a whole other story...)

Anyway wouldn't recommend it for most people, but it was sure a blast and I am excited to see what the heck is next..! Thanks for supporting, folks!
