This is the resulting render from my question last week about the weird lightshade. I've dared to post it in finished art, but as always i'd like some c&c's. Cheers!

it's not bad, only your lighting is wrong for the scene. it's way too contrasty. looks like you have a studio light illuminating the whole scene. too illuminated and bright it be. rely on natural lighting. light the scene how it would be lit in real life. you've artificially lit yours the way it wouldn't be.

Looks nice mate, though i reckon as Strat suggested the lighting if changed could improve the image. Only other thing is the proportions at the top of the stairs, looks really low compared to the kitchen for example.

the part behind the stairs looks like an optic illusion.

Cheers Strat, i've had a go at removing some lights and cranking up the natural lighting from windows. I'll post in a bit.

The stairs might be a little low, but they go up to a small landing where more stairs go off to the left. :-)

Unfortunatly the illusion isnt, "Is that a photograph....."

lol.

I know this could be down to the 'design' of the kitchen but I find it a bit strange that there is a cavity/gap between the ceiling immediately above the table and the main ceiling of the room. I take it that is supposed to be like that? I just don't get it. Suppose it would be good for pull-ups ;)

The lights above the stringer are gone :( They were giving off nice illumination.

I think you should remove all the lighting except the one from your fixtures and one behind the window. See how that looks, and then add ONE at most to brighten up the kitchen from opposite side.

Thanks for that advice, i've done exactly that del3d.

As always i have got to the stage where i stare at this and can't tell if its better, worse, or identical to how i started out!

The window now looks really really bright, and the colours seem quite dull copared to the first image, I think.

needs more rape.

also Im not sure if your aware of the Work V in kitchens, Im amazed how many people overlook it. Basically just means that your fridge, oven, and sink, all make a v, for optimized workflow, it makes an amazing difference when your trying to actually USE that designer kitchen.

Yes, maybe you are right Bryan, more rape is in order. :-)

Still faffing about with the lighting, rape aside though.

/edit.
Does anyone have any good tutorial sources for interior MR lighting? I've seen the florence design one, which isnt working here!!
