My demo reel
show user profile  AntiCitizen
Yeah i know you said less posting more 3d jbrophy but i have worked hard on this. This is a showreel of my film work that i've done the camerawork and filming for and directed apart from the biking which i just edited and done post production for. I will use this for interviews for degree programs etc. Take into account i'm only a student haven't got any budget, critisism and advice welcome

The CG doesn't go with the rest of it, it seems out of place.

It all looks kind of cheap, like it was shot with a £300 camcorder.

Have you tried grading or graining any of your shots ? Have you tried out After Effects ? This would help.

Does your college not have a lighting kit ? you need to experiment with lighting, even if you buy some cheap lights yourself.

Does your college have a dolly and tracks ?

Anyone can put on an army jacket, run around with a gun and film themselves, I would forgive you for that if there was a narrative, but it seems there isn't.

Lets see less guns.

Bad points:
Lack of creativity

Good Pints
Your editing is stronger than the rest of it.

Are you finishing your degree or are you on a pre-degree course ?

I'm on a pre degree course, as for the camcorders most of it was shot on a panasonic gs500 and the biking shot on a £2000 sony hd camera but it was probably the video compression and dodgy interlace that made the footage look like it was filmed on a cheap camcorder.

I've only recently used professional lights, in the first scene where the guy breaks out of handcuffs i'm using an arri 650, although for the torture scene a light was used but it was a crappy light as it ran off a car battery and we couldn't run the arri off of it. I have done experimental stuff with no guns but if i put it in this montage it wouldn't of fitted with the music, I use after effects for green screen mainly, and quite a few of my shots were graded in that montage especiialy the one with the guy looking at the houses, thanks for your feedback anyway

No problem, you have plenty of years ahead of you to improve.

When you get to your degree course you'll be shooting better stuff and you probably won't ever look back at your old work.

The editing is so crazy you can't concentrate on any of the content (or even tell if any of it's worth concentrating on).
