I know it's a long post, let it work on you.

On my drive home today stuck in traffic I was blasting my music at full volume listening to a band I would never have discovered if it wasn't for internet forums - and I think my life would just be a travesty without it. It got me thinking of what other music I'm probably missing out on.

Lets try something, and set some rules cuz there are too many half assed music threads online that die a painful death, I think some organizing could do some good. It'll go like this:

Say I wanted to share.... TOOL with everyone. My post would be as follows:

/start

ARTIST: TOOL
EXPLICIT

PERSONAL FAVORITES (in descending order):
Aenemia (probably the song that got you IN to that band - the song will likely hook others)
Forty Six and Two
Schism
.....etc (you get it)

ACQUIRED FLAVORS: (songs that take some band loyalty to enjoy - useful if people want to explore a band more)
The Pot
....etc

What about this band do you like (optional): Love the dark tone and nostalgia factor.

SIMILAR SOUNDS (self explanatory): A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Chevelle...... etc.

***Take it a step further and give a time index for the best part of the song to suck people in if you like***

/end

RULES:
Music threads usually suck because people just blow their wad and give you a long 'to do' list of stuff to listen to. To hell with that, share one at a time giving people time to absorb the goodness..

1. Only share one artist/band per day per person.
-Try to keep your list under 10 just for brevity. If you like an artist someone posted say so, if not probably best to keep it to yourself.
-Post "EXPLICIT" for the youngsters if needed.

2. No embedded youtube. (a page full of youtube clips will surely be just skimmed over).
-Hyperlinks to youtube are welcome, and encouraged

3. No critisizing music or extensive debates about song meanings, or band history, or any lame shit that will make this thread suck balls.
-Polite sharing of memories/encouraging thoughts welcome. No political/religious debates *glare*

This could be a very enjoyable thread, it could be absolute shit. Lets give it a try and see what we come up with.

P.S. I know there are sites for this crap, and iTunes does this to a degree, but that's just impersonal and lame.

DONT BE SHY - SHARE THAT AUDIBLE CHOCOLATE

Here's mine for the night.

ARTIST: CHEVELLE

PERSONAL FAVORITES STARTERS:
Sleep Apnea (Good to get a feel. 2:39 is pretty rockin' if you listen to the setup. acoustic not bad either)
Jars
Send the Pain Below (Ugh. played out though - noobs seem to like it ;)
I get it

ACQUIRED TASTE:
Skeptic (love crappy recording levels, nice texture)
Mexican Sun (1:57 - 3:12 best part)
Brainiac
Vitamin R
Comfortable Liar

What I like: The singer could tone it back at times and let the rockin' do the work, but chevelle delivers a variety of decent tunes that cut through an 8 hour day like butter.

SIMILAR SOUNDS: Diet tool-ish.

Hopefully you guys like at least one song. =P~
