Mudbox texture resolution.

More of a mudbox issue rather than max related,

Any ideas how I can change the resolution or my texture painting? when im using stencils etc, they are very pixalated when painted on the geometry?, I have tried increasing the stencil or projection images sizes before using then in mudbox but I still get pixilated results?

sounds like you've not got a dense enough geometry to take all the detail you're trying to put on the mesh- just subDivide a couple of times more if you can

Already have a fairly high subdivision on it in mudbox, or does it need to come out of max with a higher smooth level?

when you create a new paint layer you can set its size, set it to something higher, mudbox doesn't care about polycount when painting as far as i know.
