mpeg2 question
show user profile  Cylon
I've just converted a test animation (with no audio) in Premiere Pro 2 as an mpeg2 and sent it to a client. He can't open it. It opens fine on my laptop.

I've emailed it to my hotmail account and attempted to open it on my desktop computer. It shows the file extension as m2v and it won't open on there either.

Anyone have any idea whats going on ?

Thanks in advance.

m2v sounds like a program specific format.

Make sure you define a format, and not just the compression codec when exporting. (in this case you probably wanted .mpg ?)

Unless the client specifically asked for mpeg2, you could just save it as MS-Mpeg4 compressed .avi. everyone can read that.

Terribly boring signature.

Does your client has a mpeg player codec installed?
anyway, i think your export settings in Premiere are not right
you should get a *.mpg extension, not a m2v

Anyway, just look at the link, you can send this to your client :-) http://mv2.czweb.org/

Good luck

Thanks guys,

I don't know what the problem is. I'm exporting as a generic mpeg (PAL) in Premiere, which I normally do and it's never caused me problems in the past. It opens fine on my laptop, it just won't open on my desktop or on his computer.

Apparantly an m2v file is just an mpeg2 without audio, and the file has no audio.
