Moving objects onto each other.....

I was wondering if there is an easy way to do this.

In short, I have a desk at an angle, and an ashtray that I want to put on the desk. BUT, I don't know at what angles the desk is actually at becaise its rotated on 2 angles and then skewed to fit in.

Is there an easy way for me to place things on the desk? At the moment i'm going by trial and error and its bloody annoying!!!

Any help with this is more than helpfu!!! :D

You can match the OBJECTS rotation like that...

But you may need to just match geometry? If so (theres probably another align tool) you could make a cube or something with 'autogrid' turned on, then align to that one.

Normal align sounds good but it didn't do anything just then when I tried :)

Align did the initial rotation, but it doesn't take into account a skew on it as well. Is it possible to allign something to a face perhaps?

Yes just draw a new object on it with autogrid selected, then you will be able to align your ashtray to that object
