Move tool along axis/viewport
show user profile  LongTimeNoSee
Hi all. It's been a looong time since I've danced with Max (Max 7)

I'm trying to get my skills going by practicing on a simple Flik model (from Bugs Life).

I remember there was a way to make the axis align with your active viewport when using the move tool. For example, with this setting the X and Y were flush with my screen and the Z was perpendicular to my screen.

This is great for working in perspective or ortho view, flipping the view around and tweaking stuff.

How did I do that years ago?

You want Screen mode. You can select it by clicking the white box in the middle of the top menu (pretty sure it says viewport or world) and selecting from the dropdown, or you can hold alt+mmb and select from the quad menu.
