Motionbuilder ragdollphysics help
show user profile  goingtomakeit
Hi all, i know this isnt max but you guys seem pretty wise on a lot of things, Id appreciate it if someone could help im really stuck here.

I've been trying to get ragdoll physics to work on my animation or on any mesh and rig i put in. It just doesnt seem to want to work, i've looked around on the net and there are no tutorials to help me apart from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH6-szX1xFk
The official autodesk ones. But ive done exactly what they say and i still cant get it to work. Anyone else had any problems?

using 2012, i caracterize my model, do an animation, then add a ragdoll, tune the approximation a bit, keep it as active, turn on the "match animation" box, add in the physics solver. Turn it on and live and he just behaves like a normal ragdoll falling to the ground not, matching the animation at all. Ive tried bringing the match transalation match rotation up but nothing happens.

What am i doing wrong?

Really hope someone can help

Cheers

James

wish I could help more but this might be a bug, it sounds like you took the correct steps. Can you test it on a simpler animation to make sure it works? Maybe there's even a hotfix...

I was using a cat rig, tried again with a biped, i got it to half work but even with match translation, match rotation up to full and force threshhold right down, and gravity on 0 he still is walking on his knees, not standing fully up right, and his feet are fliping around.

Maybe the Cat rig doesn't work because CAT can be a bit dodgy right?
But i was thinking it shouldn't matter as MB converts it into its own control rig?

Going to have another play around today, Just trying to get the t-pose to stand.

Have you used much motion builder Beezy? Is there something im missing in the ragdoll properties list? I moved the match trans and rotate on each joint up to full

Cheers for your help man
