Morphing a character into text
show user profile  andy 3ds
Hi I've been scouring the web for a tutorial involving morphing anything into text and i can't find anything.

What I've been asked to do is have 2 characters fight / wrestle each other and once they crash to the ground morph into a logo. In this case it just happens to be text.

Anyone know how i could achieve this?

Create a text, create a character. Make sure they have the same number of vertices. Morph. Doesnt seem like it would look that good imo. You might also be able to do something with particle flow too though.

I tried matching the vertices but that still wouldn't let me select the other object in the morph roll out. Particles won't work for this as he wants the characters to physically go from characters straight to the logo

Particles will still work.

If you use what you learn in these two tutorials

you can pretty easily get the effect you are looking for. Its probably because your trying have two objects morph into one. Divide the shapes up into two different objects. Make sure they are edit polys. It may also be because they are separate elements. Honestly I cant see it end up looking good by using morph anyway though.

Sounds like one of those poorly-conceived ideas that in reality would look pretty naff. Some nice particle effects yes for example characters melt/liquidise and then reform as the logo, but a straight shape/colour morph is the kind of thing they used to do on Amigas for bad movie fx :) I`d search for a free or cheap 2d image morphing software/plugin and show the client how terrible the idea really is.
