Monitor and resolution difficulties
show user profile  vlad61
perhaps this is the wrong place to post this but i seem to have a difficulty with my monitors resolution, 1280by800 is the best and its the one that it is set to however when i start up something like a game and the resolution of that game is set to lower then my monitor like 800 by 600 for example what it does is it makes the game screen that exact resolution but does not extend it to all corners of my monitor so i end up with a small screen in the middle and alot of black on the outermost parts of my monitor. i cant seem to get it to fix the same thing happens when i change my desktop resolution, it just sits in the middle with the resolution i gave it but it doesnt stretch its self out automatically like it has always done in the past

I'm on my laptop now with nvidia card, it is called "change flat panel scaling" in the nvidia options.
My ati card on the pc has the same option, name of course has something to do with scaling.

There is a "Do not scale" option there too, make sure it's not checked, sounds like it would do exactly what you described.
I have "Use NVIDIA scaling" checked (without "with fixed-aspect ratio" part)
