Hello Hediseo!

You will probably want to start out with a box and then convert it to editable poly.

Editable poly is newer than editable mesh, and has more features. I would recommend doing the tutorials that ship with max... they will give you a good understanding about the basic workflow

Kind regards,

I'd use cloth.

I would model the tent poles and then let the cloth "drape" over them.
I'd use a heavy, thick fabric preset.

Sorta like this:

Too many answers, not enough questions.

@hediseo: Do you have a reference image of the type of tent you're trying to re-create? (googling "fabric tent" will result in various tents of all shapes and sizes)

cloth rigged to spline ropes is the way to go, i made one last year and it took me a good 50+ hours to get it rigged up correctly (it was for animation) and honestly i cant imagine doing it any other way

@mr_stabby: dude... i`ll let you know if i find any faster way for covering this, maybe we can make it in 1+hours.you know last week i met a frind of frind who model a fabric tent in autocad just in 10 min.but i think there is some way in 3d max studio to model it as fast as autocad, and give a shit to autocad modeling...;)
