How to make a model of an animal any cool techniques
show user profile  Radomized
I'm sort of new to 3ds max and haven't really started on making my own creatures. What can I use to make like T-rexs and animals? I would need like a full explanation and maybe screenshots if possible to help me out.

Learn basic modelling using the tutorials that come with it first. Also do Mad-Dog-Bomber's tutorials on this page. And google for the Joan of Arc tutorial if you feel like it.

Do those and you'll have the basics in place that you need. Don't dive into an elaborate project without a clue what you're doing.

I made quite a few animals for a personal game project i was working on. There are plenty of tutorials out there but if i get time tonight ill try and whip something up, my method started at about 4 days down to about 40 minutes once i worked out a system and had enough practice

Jareu that would be great! I am currently working on the mouth tutorial and almost done. I have been putting a lot of work into it. Just so you all know I have taken classes at my HS but it doesn't really show how to make things like humans. They use a program to do that and I want to surprise my teacher and move on to the Honors course.

I think what I need is some practice and my mission for the week is to finish the head of a human and then move on to animals or start animals now depending upon what is best and what I can do right now.

yeh animals are generally easier because you spend all day looking at peoples faces, so you know immediately when something isnt perfect.

What are you looking at doing? Hi def or Low? and texturing aswell? when i get a spare nanosecond ill post some of the images i rendered with the animals i made

"yeh animals are generally easier because you spend all day looking at peoples faces, so you know immediately when something isnt perfect."

I'm not quite sure I'm following you here... are you saying animals are easier because you won't spot your mistakes as well as on a human face? If so... that's just silly. It would be easier to do something that would look wrong if you did it wrong, because then you'd know how to correct it, and make it NOT wrong.

A days work sort of paid off I can pretty much make a mouth now. I just need help with some problems that came out of my best draft? How do I get the renders of my mouth to this website. I'll work on the nose this weekend.

I'll explain instead of what my problem seems to be. When I render it looks like one side is different but I used symmetry. It looks like one side of the lip goes down more than the other side. I have fixed it quite a bit but I was only able to change it a little bit. I can probably figure out how to post it up.
