Mike Renouf's Photo thread

A number of members have really impressive photography skillz and I'm really jealous of their efforts. If no one minds I'll use this thread to show few of my snaps that I'd quite proud of, though I've still got plenty to learn!

I love the one with the trees, that is really nice. Great work!

cool mate
your camera isn't doing you any favours but you chose some nice subjects and managed to capture them nicely, love the trees and the spider

Thanks for the positive comments guys. It's the driver (me) at fault though, not the camera! It's a canon EOS 1000D, so it's not a pro level camera, but it's got plenty of potential that I'll need to grow into. The shots above were taken with the standard 18-55mm lens it came with (held backwards manually in the case of the flowerhead, as per a tip I read on SteveGek's thread).

The fuzziness and dodgy dof is probably down to poor aperture selection on my part.

Not sure if my aperture setting is being remembered by the camera when I take the lens off to reverse it. They're at 1/125 sec, ISO 400 with the built-in flash. The lens is Canon 18-55mm .

Any crits or suggestions are welcomed!

Figured out how to make my aperture settings count when reversing the lens, so I've managed to get more control over the DOF.
