Mexico Memoirs
show user profile  9krausec
I know this is 3ds Max forum (hence the name), but I figured that I like all you guys and gals a decent amount to share some of the near plans for myself as far as a senior summer vacation goes. I also realize that memoirs are meant as something that you write AFTER you do it, but I like the alliteration and wanted to get a jump start on it.

Alright, here is the game plan for now. Take 3 weeks off of work mid June, Bike to the border of Mexico on motorcycles with three dear friends of mine, ditch our bikes in a storage garage, take a bus into Mexico to Cabo where we will meet up with another lady friend of ours and stay in her Timeshared condo for a week, then bike back. Here is the map..

I have already sent in the forms and stuff for a passport a week ago, and today I just bought my awesome motorcycle which I have named Mona and am planning to clean up, take the sissy bar off,put new tires on, and paint candy blue with a layer of black base paint with some black pinstripes. I am now official broke with 67 dollars and 32 cents to my name, and am getting a second job at Subway!!! Horay! You can view pictures of my amazing 1980 Ironhead sportster below (mostly stock and will run great once I can get both the cylinders firing...)

I also plan on writing Alice Cooper to see if he wants to get coffee with the three of us while we are taking the trip. I will keep you updated on the trip plan and will be sure to collect some pretty awesome pictures along the way. Do any of you guys live around the area of our planned route that would like to get some coffee with myself and a couple of my friends? What do all of you think of Mona?

hey, that sounds pretty cool, i've been starting to plan my summer bike trips aswell, proabbly stop by vagas on one of my trips, from Vancouver that is, I wouldn't mind a coffee if by some chance I went around the time you went.

Are you sure you want to do this trip on interstates? i would take highways of the beaten path, some slower areas, twisites, help the blood flow to your clutch hand and butt checks. Plus there is a ton to see along the way, stuff that you won't see on the interstate.

[edit] btw, have you seen the movie "wild hogs", hehe.

[edit2] oh man do I miss my bike, to dam cold in Canada to insure it all year round, hehe I see snow in your pic :P

I will go on the interstate on the way back for most of the way back (but considering some of the asses on the road I wont be driving in anything greater than 2 lanes), but we will be bumming around off the interstate on the way to Mexico. That would be pretty awesome though if we were to meet up and get some coffee in Vegas (never been to Vegas so I don't know how long I will want to stay there for "safety" reasons or something like that, but maybe we could meet up in one of the surrounding more secure cities around Vegas for coffee). I'll be back with a more structured trip in a month or so to tell you the exact dates so we might be able to work something out.

Sounds like you have a pretty decent trip planned. Are you just going to vegas or are you planning on going elsewhere?

man vegas is safe is you stay near the strip dont go off the strip into any ghettos AND you have a safe place for your bike to be parked on the strip.

On the strip you are pretty much safe from physical harm, now property you leave laying around is at risk anywhere and even more at places like airports and vegas strip.

Bodily harm...the strip is very safe, tons of cops and security.

by "strip" I mean downtown under the light canopy "freemont street" is safe and the main strip + 2 blocks in all directions from the main strip.

Off the strip.....not so much.

Then downtown business/commercial district "besides freemont street" is safe too.

I am kind of leery about having my first bike be an 1000cc bike.. A bit big to start out with, but the price was right..

3dDeath- what do you ride around?

I ride a 2003 suzuki sv650s, a 1000 is definitly a bit heavy for a first bike, gonna be perfect for the main highways thou.

Just be careful with it, go slow on the turns, one thing I noticed is cars acutaly turn a lot easier than motorcycles, so don't compete with cars up first like I always did, give it time, since bikers in general usally have wayyyy more highway experience than drivers it will eventually come to you.

Thats my tip of the day.
hehe funny vid, don't be like that guy ;)

Just an update on an old post. I got my motorcycle in running condition and I will be getting my license this wed.... Today for class we took 250cc bikes out and rode them around. It was my first time on a bike and I caught on quickly (didn't crash once!!!), it was a blast. I'll post a picture of the bike after I get it painted and with a new tank.... It shall be sexy..
