Mesh errors with WSM path deform
show user profile  Joey Parker Jr.
some of these support beams seem to get "squashed" when i apply them to the path
this is the only part of the coaster where i used a helix. the rest was done with splines that
i made by hand. no problems with them.
anyone run into something like this before?

Yup there was a guy having problems with path deforming around a helix on here a few days ago, it seem sits the helix object that ferks it up, i tried it myself and it would seem that just the way it is, it just messes the mesh up at regular intervals along the helix, most annoying and most stoopid.

Hooraaaay! I do like figuring problems out, Ive found a fix Mr Joey sir...

-convert your helix to an editable spline (or add a edit spline mod, probably better so you can go and re-adjust)

-then go into segment subobject selection and select every segment in the helix

-right click and choose 'curve' in the top left quad.

-go into vertex mode and select all the verts

-right click and choose 'Bezier' from the top left quad

-right click again and choose 'Reset Tangents'

Sorted! :D

hope it helps dude

*goes off to post the solution in that other thread...*

Yeah you need to have curve segments for the bezier verts to work, otherwise they just stay as corner verts, stoopid max. =)
