|Mental ray BSP 2 Bug|
Hi all, I have a question about rendering BSP2 vs BSP
I have a large scene with almost 4 million tris and 2 milion poly's in it.
animated a lot of objects that are passing each other
-Models are mostly redrawn from sketchup models
-Force 2-sided is checked
-and in the materials back face culling is check out
Therefore the setting is advised to set in BSP2 (that is what I'm reading on the internet)
when I rendered this in highres, some parts of objects had problems with BSP 2; they get black flickerings all of a sudden. like it has problem reading the surface of that object.
(Geometry is not rendering complete)
I figured out that this bug reacts with other objects (when passing by) aldo it is very random in this.
My first solution was to put a shell_modifier on the objects that flickered and made it thicker.
this is not ideal because I can't render everything out first and then check for bugs. (time comsuming)
Now I'm testing around a bit and I came to the conclusion that BSP just works better for me!
It is faster then BSP 2 and from the moment I switched the bugs where gone!
What is happening here? Has anyone been having the same issues?
